how to wire up tweeters

hi, i have a 4 channel amp running 2 front and 2 rear speakers , i would like to add some tweeters but dont know were to wire them. my amp as outputs so i can add another amp (a have a 2 channel amp spare but not wired up )it is 60w rms per channel do i use this or do i go into my 4 channel amp . any help or advice would be apreciated.thanks

You basically need a crossover (filters out whatever frequencies) inbetween the amp and tweeters. Normally you'd buy a set of components which include a tweeter, mid-range speaker and crossover. Without the crossover it'll blow the tweeter.

thanks for your reply , would i need to use my second amp for the tweeters , and can you get tweeters with built in crossovers , yuor advice would be apreciated . thanks

Not sure about getting them with built in crossovers. But yep I'd say you'd use your second amp for the tweeters.

Then again you may be better off replacing your front speakers with a set of components, that way you just carry on with your 4 channel amp and you just lose your existing fronts but gain a tweeter/crossover/mid-range unit Might be easier that way, plus you can flog the old speakers on ebay!
