Being on the verge of buying a digital SLR i thought i best set up a photo gallery. To start it off i've stuck some photos taken with my current camera (Sony P100) ...
I would greatly appreciate any critical feedback on how to improve my shots, composition etc....
Thanks,
Michael

thanks... hows that? please someone, tell me its worked
They worked mate and they are pretty good.
I would say that there is not a lot wrong with your compositions some great shots there. What lets them down (especially the b&w ones) is that they aren't as sharp as they could be. Could be down to the quality of your Sony or could be that your camera has chosen quite a slow shutter speed because there wasn't much light - resulting in images with a little bit of camera shake. The benefit of a DSLR is that you can increase the ISO which allows you to use much faster shutter speeds which can elimate the shake (and produce really sharp images).
Keep us posted with your DSLR purchase and subsequent first pics
Been playing around with the new nikon now for just over a week and these are some of the best shots ive come up with. Once again, constructive criticism greatly appreciated
All taken with Nikon d50 + kit lens (Post processing done in Elements)
all great pics mate particularly the flowers and the sheep, the cans of carlsberg look good to,infact they've just got my taste buds going, i might just have to nip out a buy a couple
Big improvement with the DSLR! I like the poker shot, especially black and white. Would also try sharpening the ewe+2lambs shot and changing to black and white, increasing the shadows and highlights a bit (picasa-speak!) and seeing what you think.
Flower shots really need sharp focus on the main flower and a bit of sharpening to work, I always struggle to get these shots.
Good post though, interesting composition - i like the concert shot too, gives a good atmosphere
cheers for the compliments... the car was quite amusing because i'd literally just got in the car a put my new lens on and this pulled out in front of us. perfect timing. Not the sharpest but we were driving along at the time
thought id have a go at shooting some insects in my garden this afternoon and here are some of the best... all taken with 28-200 sigma and edited in photoshop
