I'm off to the US in a weeks time, is it worth getting a HD DVD player to bring back to use or should i wait for a UK release. Can you get any HD DVD discs in the UK?
I believe the Toshiba players are released in November in the UK. I'd expect software to released around then also.

I'm off to the US myself in a couple of weeks
time but i've ordered one to be sent over after
reading that they are built like a tank!! Something
to do with stability I think. Anyway the box looks quite
big to carry back even in a suitcase

I cancelled my order for my Toshiba from Japan because i found out tonight from another user that it can't play PAL DVDs.
I have no use for a NTSC only player.

Pity they saw fit to enforce regional coding on SD dvds, would have made a very tempting prospect to ensure the format gain a foothold:suicide:

Problem is that Japan is R2 which i ordered but the players are also limited to only NTSC which really puts me off the whole thing.
Most cheap standard players today are even PAL/NTSC.

there are also quite a few issues with the remote contol and a couple of other issues that make importing one a risky affair. Better wait until the problems get ironed out.
