hd dvd

ive just got back from japan and saw a demo of a hd dvd playing next to an sd dvd player, the difference in pq was huge. it was playing on a 46 inch tosh flat panel. even when close up the picture was fab (thats when i got shouted at,i dont speak japanese but i think they said stop leaving nose prints on the screen). the only prob was the dvd they were showing,it looked like a promo from the greek tourist board. it was the same at the sony building, their "full hd" display showed a promo for las vegas on their blu ray recorder.

i was very tempted to part with 98000 yen but wasnt sure if it would play back home, and i would probably pick the wrong format knowing my luck. i dont have any tech specs as it was all in japanese, but regardless of format the future looks good

That's good to know, just wish we could get our hands on the flaming things now!

If the differnec is that HUGE then i don't mind parting with my money for one. Just need to see if Blue-Ray is much better
