Are there any hddvd players, being released this year, that will support SACD?? Either rumored or confirmed.

Sorry about the gramma.

I think it's unlikely to see SACD capability on HD DVD players. Even Sony aren't including it on their initial Blu-ray player (or even CD playback!), although I believe the PS3 (bizarrely) will include it. I think Philips are the only company that will have SACD capability on their initial Blu-ray player. Hope this helps.

Smile Hddvd / Sacd

I was in a branch of COMET last week and found a Samsung (I think) HDDVD / SCAD player.
Price was around the £100.00 mark.
I have no idea of the picture or sound quality.

However, the salesman advised me to hold off from buying at present due to the format 'war'.It is strongly rumoured there is a dual format (HDDVD / Blu-Ray) player currently under development, also by Samsung, due for release towards the end of this year.

However, I have also been advised that Pioneer make a HD-DVD that has SACD & DVD-A capability.

happy hunting

Wrongly, unfortunately. Pioneer are in the Blu-ray "camp" and their first player doesn't play SACD or DVD-A either.

The samsung you saw was a "Hi-Def Conversion DVD Player" as they call it. Not a HDDVD player. As I understand it it's simply a cheap video processor that upscale the SDDVD signal.

Guess I won't get any SACD & HDDVD combi until I get the BD & HDDVD combi.

This is most annoying...Already have a universal dvd-a & SACD player...also have a DVD recorder (couldn't find a Recorder that was SACD, DVD-A compatible)...now I'm going to have yet another player (at least) for the HD-DVD & Blueray stuff....So I'll have 5/6 devices just in my lounge that can play dvd's!!!! (XBOX, DVD, DVR, 360 & HDDVD/+Blueray)

Dont hold your breath for a universal player either. Samsung have ditched plans to release a combi player and LG has now sighned a deal with HD-DVD and put its blu-ray plans on hold. Its also worth noting that its most certain now that a combi Blu-ray and HD-DVD player is NOT permitted by either camp at this time
