 Will U.S. sourced Toshiba HD-DVD Players output Pal as well as NTSC??PAL is 576i/50, and NTSC is 480i/60. They are both standard-definition broadcast standards only, that are not applicable to high definition. That's probably why you won't find any mention of PAL & NTSC. Region coding where applicable and the frame refresh rate of 50 or 60Hz are the only things you have to worry about with HD. I think you should be OK, but you might to let someone else find out first......

It would matter for backwards compatible dvd wouldn't it?

For HD DVD the difference between UK and US titles will be the former will be 50Hz whilst the latter is 60Hz. This could present a playback 'issue' - will the US model support 50Hz output? Nobody knows yet.
For backwards compatibility with SD DVD there will be the issue of whether the machine supports PAL and whether it can be made multi-region. I should imagine the answer on the US version will be no. But may well be yes for November's UK version. But nobody knows.
We should get answers in the next few weeks but I would suspec if you want multi-region SD DVD and UK/US compatibility on HD DVD you might have to wait for the UK release.
