Hi all,
I hope this is the right forum to post this help request. I have just got hold of a full speaker set " Denon DHT-500SD ", got all 5 speakers plus the sub which goes with it (fat type sub rather than the slimline one). Got these speakers for a song as the amp/dvd player was damaged beyond repair in the shop.
My problem is this.....The sub is just like a normal speaker and doesnt have a built in amp to power it so my amp needs a normal speaker output to drive it, but, alas it doesnt, just a pre-out to drive a sub amp instead..
So i need a new amp and my needs (hopes) are this, i am on a small budget so unfortunately i am at the cheaper end of the market, id like optical or electrical input as my dvd player has these outputs along with full 6 channel phono outputs, it also needs to drive the sub direct obviously, my setup will only be a 5.1 setup so the amp doesnt need to do 6.1 or 7.1 really as ill never use it, hopefully it will support the usual audio decoding found on dvds today like dolby digital etc. These speakers have max power handling of 100w (peak), 40w (IEC <---wonder what that means??) and 6 ohm's impedance.
I so hope somebody can help, any assistance would be so greafully received
Many Regards
Paul
