Samsung HT-TP33 Switching Off

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before. I just recieved this system yesterday and set it all up last night.

At random intervals it comes up with "Protection" across the LCD screen and then switches itself off. It first did this when running the audio from the sky+ box via and optical lead, and has since done this whist using my gamecube (via stereo phono leads) and even when running a DVD.

And then it made a kind of crunching grinding noise when I tried to put the DVD back on.

It looks like i'm going to have to send this back to Komplett but I'd rather not have to repackage the whole thing again so if anyone else has had this problem and fixed it could you help me please?

Check your speaker wiring, and try turning the volume down. It could be a short circuit on the speaker connections, or overheating.

Have checked the wiring, looks fine and all connections seem ok.

Volume has been quite low throughout these problems.

Will give it a try without being under the TV, with it just on the radio. To rule out over heating. When it has gone off the unit hasnt felt very warm though.

Will try these and get back to you.

Nope no luck.

Unplugged the sky+ and GC and reset the system, left the radio on for about 20 mins and had gone off when i went back. The unit was sitting by it self on the floor.

Gonna phone Samsung and Komplett tomorrow if I get back from work early enough.

Never seen this on mine.
Have used optical audio input from Xbox.
Haven't got anything connected via phono.
Certainly haven't heard any grinding noises.....

No idea what the problem is.....sorry.

Managed to speak to Samsung and they'll take it away and repair it, although I would rather a replacement from Komplett. Couldnt get to speak to them because theyre phone lines shut at 3pm (??!!!??).

The only fear I have with them is that they'll want me to send the unit back, but it weighs 23Kg I think. I may have to argue with them tomorrow if it comes to it.

Not sure if anyone cares but I need to rant somewhere, so sorry in advance.

I spoke to Komplett and they agreed to pick up the item without any arguing, which was nice. So I packed it all up and Parcelforce picked it up on the 13th. Komplett recieved it the tuesday after and have since done nothing with it. Since then they've got 6 more of these in stock and sold them all. They still havnt tested my faulty system and wont be getting any more in stock untill "sometime next week." So it looks like I wont be getting another system till at least a week after that.

I've asked them for a refund if they cant sort it out and get me one by monday. I've been without a DVD player since the 5th (Having given my sister my old one).

Ok rant over.

On the plus side I've almost watched my backlog of sky+ films and programs

Giving up entering the world of surround sound now.

After ordering from electricshop.com on the 28th with a delivery period of 5-7 days, I phoned them today to find out whats happening to be told. Theres been a major production problem and they're not expecting stock until mid-june.

Can anyone recommend a system for £200-£250 with optical input that I can get my hands on before I die of old age. I'm not usually this impatient just that these two companys have p***ed me off.

Oh and I'd like tallboy speakers just like the samsung ones, I dont have anywhere to put small speakers apart from under the sofa

If not I think I'll see about getting my air con fixed in my car instead.
