Had my 350D a few weeks but not had much time due to a 2 week old baby.
My kit: Canon 350D, 18-55 kit lens, Sigma 10-20mm, Canon 50mm f1.8, Canon 430EX flash, handgrip.
EDIT: Bought a 24-105 L.

Here's a few old ones from Mauritius in 2000. They have been scanned in on my old scanner, not very good quality, I may try and dig out the negatives and scan them again.
Taken on Canon 1000FN with Sigma 24-70 and 70-210.

The pics are of Mauritius, I did take a few of morecambe with my old SLR but not got any yet. I lived in Morecambe for 20 years, you can get some good view across of a clear day.
My missus studied at St. Martins in Lancaster.

I like the Mauritius pictures, great place for photos.
I take it you were staying on the west coat? I was there last year on my honeymoon and found the coulours of the sea and landscape facinating.

Thanks for the comments.
The sunset one is a bit rubbish but it was our last hour at the hotel before going to the airport, the sun set at about 5.30pm so I thought I would get one last piccy.
They would look much better with a 350D and a L lens, may go back for 10 year anninversary.

With mine it takes 5-8 shots each:)
PS: Did you use a slave / studio flash for the "backlighting" or was it bounce from the 430?

Info now added :smashin:
The backlighting was natural light coming in through the conservatory, I used the 430 with -1 EV so it didn't look like I used a flash.
Also uploaded a new version, sharpened in photoshop, levels adjusted and converted to sRGB.
(that sounds like I know what i am talking about  )

Here's one from Buxton, I ran it through a filter program, Virtual photographer, from optikverve labs, a free plug-in for photoshop. I thought I would give it a quick go. I also added some noise.

I know, the colour one is rubbish, but I took it to turn it in to B & W.
I only took 5 or 6 photos on my camping trip (got rained off), we just went for a walk along the cycle track near the camp site and I couldn't get any decent pics, but the dark clouds makes it ideal for a dramatic B & W shot. The filter is called 'Spooky'.
The good thing about shooting in RAW is you have more detail to play with.
Really like your waterlily shot from 6.6.06

The picture reminds me of Lord of the Rings as it's very similar in style to some of the artwork that was done in pre-production of the films.

I know what you are saying, you can change it so it isn't as dramatic, I used +3/-3 but you usually go for +2/-2.
How many times have you taken a pictue of something thinking it looks good, only to see the picture at home and thinking it looks a bit flat.
The sky did look dramatic when seeing it in the flesh, but when you see the digital version, it looks rubbish.
