How to add more SATA HDDs

I would like to add a 3rd and 4th internal HDD. I'm using XP Home.

Can this be simply be done by connecting the SATA and power cables and switching on to get the HDDs detected?

Will I have to somehow allocate the next two drive letters? The firsy physical drive is partitioned C: and D: - or perhaps do something else?

Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks

It is just a case of connecting the drives data/power cables and switching on! Windows will detect the drives and assign drive letters.

The drives will need to be formatted before there ready for use to do this it's simply: Right click on my computer>Manage>Under storage select Disk Management>right click on the new disks>format

Jobs a goodin

You should be able to provided your motherboard has the ports. Normally, they have 2 SATA ports. If they do not then you can buy PCI card that will allow you to add more ports. The drive letters should automatically be added and can be changed by you if needed using the Disk Manager. I purchase this PCI card for the same reason and its very good.

You'll need to partition the drives, before you format them....
