HDMI & DivX player that matches Pioneer PDP506XDE - suggestions?

If you see the sig below, you'll see the setup that I've just bought for 5.1 sound. I have an old Sony DVD NS405 player that I need to replace. I'd like a player that:
  • outputs the best picture in terms of matching it to the 50" plasma in HD mode (720p/1080i)
  • supports DivX (so that I can rip DivX files onto DVD media and have it play them)
  • has an HDMI connection
  • region free
  • ideally plays CDs as well as a DVD player can play CDs without having a dedicated CD player (which I'm not going to get). Note that I'll live with what I can get here as this is a 90% movies & TV machine and 10% music.
  • ideally some capability for firmware updating for DivX like Sony offers for its DVD players
Considering I'd like to get the best out of the new 50" plasma - what would people suggest I go for? I've looked through a lot of the reviews, but I'm not finding a consensus.

Would people suggest waiting for a model they know is coming out this year?

Thanks for any help

i suppose it depends on price. i have the 505xda with the samsung hd950 via hdmi (£120 from richer sounds - it also plays sacd and dvda - however you can get the 850 model cheaper without dvda and sacd - both included the necessary cables), altho many would say the denon 1920 is a lot better at £200ish, and that unlike the samsung is upgradable

or there is an oppo player, but i think it's more expensive and doesn't play sacd or dvd (i don't know much about it, but some seem to swear by it)

with a bigger budget there are other higher end denon models available

if you post your price range it might help others reply

Thanks. To be honest, anything up to around £500 I would think - but I'd stretch further if it was worth it.
