Hi All,

Bought my first ever camera almost a year ago for a trip to Shanghai with my Girlfriend to see her sister. Read and read and read about photography for a few months before the trip as I was not planning to go to China too often!

Some amazing sights especially the people of the land.

Anyway, here are 2005's photos. Have not edited them a lot, basically downloaded picasa2 about 2 hours ago and have cropped and auto-this and auto-that a bit. Will add camera data for each pic when I get a chance. All china ones were taken with my Canon 20d and a 70-300mm usm IS lens (thanks Eric!) or the basic kit 18-55 lens. Since the trip Ive added a tamron 28-75 2.8, a Canon 70-200 F4L, Canon 300mm IS L, and about half a stone, mostly directly in front of my belly.

Other shots are of my boxer, Heidi, my parents sheepdog, Ruby, Girlfriend Maggie and her labrador Dolly (found as a stray on Dollymount strand in Dublin a couple of years back), my godson Georgie, wedding in Galway, trips to Barcelona, Wroclaw Poland, and Toulouse and south of France - yep I went mad on the travel last year, next trip planned for July 2018. A few shots were taken with a Pentax Optio S4i, will mark these up later to show which is which.

Critical acclaim or destructive criticism most welcome. Enjoy!

Instead of 'attaching' images you need to have them hosted somewhere and then use the tag - when you create a post, click on the button that looks like this: [IMG]http://www.avforums.com/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif and paste in the url. If you're not sure about the tag just quote this post and you'll see how I did it with the .gif for the button :) You will need to change the Editor mode to see the code, so click on this button: http://www.avforums.com/forums/images/editor/switchmode.gif on the top left of the message editor box.

Thanks a million, any idea about free hosting? We have a website at work I might be able to piggyback on but a freebee would be great?

Whats the limit then on pics hosted elsewhere? Am I right to think its 800 pixels high or wide?

Cheers,

Thanks guys!

Bikers, Birr Vintage Week August 2005, Birr Co Offaly (my new home). Took the opportunity to step out onthe road when the lights were red, figured a low down shot in between the bikes would give a good effect. Got just the shot I'd imagined:

One more payment and its mine... the other side of Toulouse
http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/9838/img176811tw.jpg

Beijing - main park, all the elderly locals clap and dance and play music and a kind of raquetball - amazing to see them at it. Took this shot with a 70-300 canon zoom - I think. Lots of china shots came out a bit lacking in colour, propably because of the strong sunlight or the smog.
http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/9442/mg967811pj.jpg

Shanghai Circus No.2 - did not need to crop this one, just more zoom. Think this must have been my tamron lens cause of how the action is frozen.

Flight back from Toulouse - think this is wales? Saturation increases a bit in Picasa. Hard to get a good exposure from inside a Boeing.

South of France - Couliers (pronounced cool-Eeh-Aay) - fantastic place to visit. Just managed to get a late (cheap) bed at high season with a view out the door of the bay. Class! this street is at the other side of the port, where most of the action is. Very lively place with great reataraunts and atmosphere. Nearly missed this area too, we thought the main town area was all there was to the town.

Stopped off on the road from Toulouse to Carcassonne (town has a fantastic castle that "Robin Hood" (Kevin Costner) was filmed in - so we were informed, never liked the guy since waterworld...) when I saw this opportunity - the railtracks and multi-patterns behind deserved a 5 min stopover:

I love portraits with lots of detail. Sometimes the subject just sees the wrinkles though. I do like the way the two kids with the "map" are completely engrossed in themselves, it could almost be two different scenes.

Will probably tidy up the album soon, haven't really thought of which ones I should leave up for good yet.

Sorry, used a 3rd party software to change to max 800x600 in a few different batches. I will reduce image sizes on offending ones as soon as I can figure it out. Some were done on XP with MS image resizer, some Win 98 where the MS program wont work. I tried the AVforums image resizer but ended with tiny pics (eg the jellyfish tank in my first post). Will sort out,

:god:

[QUOTE=hutters]Instead of 'attaching' images you need to have them hosted somewhere....

so how does this work, ie who would host your photos another website ? would they charge for this ? and would there be a limit on the size on there website and this one, if so how do you go about setting this all up,please excuse my ignorance on this

Looking at Sold5's pictures he's using imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us) which appears to be free. Alternatively you can buy your own domain and host them there or you can use somewhere like photobox (http://www.photobox.co.uk) that has other benefits aswell.

How About putting these on Flickr? www.flickr.com.
You get free space for photos and can upload them to your space by email or multimedia message.

Glad the camera and lens' are working well - It was worth walking through New York to get them so?
