I know the Audiophile is supposed to be the best, but I've seen a M-audio Dio 24/48 for £99, it has Optical and Coaxial output but is only stereo, will this do the same job as the M-audio regarding S/PDIF output as this is all I am interested in.

I thin it was on digital worlds web site.

Cheers

That'll do just fine!

Yes, a lot of people use the DIO cards for HTPC use. They should work the same as the Audiophile card as far as DD/DTS passthough is concerned.

Remember there are two versions of the Dio.

The Dio 2448 (http://www.midiman.net/products/m-audio/dio2448.php) and the Dio 2496 (http://www.midiman.net/products/m-audio/dio2496.php)

Here is a link (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74817&highlight=dio+and+2448) to another forum with some info.

Good luck,

Mark.

Looks like a mornign of reading about it. I think in the end I might play safe and get a 24/96 Audiophile. Not too bothered about the Tos Link outputs, coaxial is fine for me.
