Star Trek Next Generation
Was the decision of which region to buy decided?
R1 or R2......

Well, nothing in life is absolute.
I'm going for R1 because I feel both NTSC and film sources are best served by NTSC format discs. A difference in packaging was mentioned but I feel this is an irrelevance.

Confucius may have a good point about the NTSC quality.
However, for me personally the packaging is far from irrelevant, especially if you are going to purchase all seven (which will take up a lot of space on the shelf). It is not just a slight difference: the region 2 version is much much better! In fact I have american friends who are importing the European versions.
Also, I believe the region 2 version will be out before the region 1.
Hope this is some help.

Well, each to their own over the packaging
R1 is due March 26, R2 was originally due before (March 25 ?) but is now due April 1. Either way the date diference is/was small. It looks as though both regions will be getting one season every 2 months.
It also seems as though this is one case where R2 could well be cheaper than R1 . The lowest I've seen the R1 version is from A&B sound at C$160.79 incl s&h, around £71 - and of course one could well get stung by HMC&E. Lowest I've seen R2 is £69.99 from Movietyme.

Was just on the DVD.co.uk site and I noticed that they are doing the region 2 version for £64.99.
