Hi Everyone.

I was wondering if anyone has used a squeezebox 3 to stream wav files via a wireless network to their hifi?

I am looking to backup all my CDs onto harddrive in WAV format and playing them via the squeezebox 3. I know that I can use lossless formats like FLAC but like the idea of having the CDs saved in their "raw" format. I wanted to know what track navigation is like as I dont think you can attach tags to the WAV files and therefore have to navigate by filename/folder. Also wondering if streaming WAV files is feasable on a real world wireless network ( I have an 802.11g network encrypted to WEP128 but am looking to move to WPA encryption)?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers

I stream mine in AIFF format which is the itunes version of WAV, but supports tags, album art etc.

The files are the same size (20Mb each+) and stream fine over wireless, I use mine on a b network for my PDA, but it works fine.

As for navigating, I think your best bet would be to get the folder structure right.

If you haven't started, try AIFF instead, it is lossless like WAV, but supports tags.

I wouldn't discount FLAC straight away, the songs are lossless, it is like a zip file, the contents are still complete.

Erm, it supports FLAC natively in hardware, FLAC has tag support, WAV doesn't, FLAC is lossless so it's the same the data ripped from your CDs so why don't you want to use FLAC again?
