View Full Version : AV racks/shelves?
I'm after a little advice. Because I'm soon to be upgrading to the Denon 2802 and an Arcam CD72, I thought I'd take the opportunity to tidy up my home cinema equipment. I don't want to spend a fortune but I do want the whole lot to sit on one unit. I've looked at the Optimum and Atacama websites and 2 have caught my eye....
The Optimum AV2000/3000 (http://www.optimum2000.com/av-corner.html) is perfect but too expensive at somewhere around £600
The Atacama Europa AV Series (http://www.atacama-audio.co.uk./prod-f.htm) - this looks great but I'm not sure how expensive it is (the bigger one).
Has anyone got either of these or does anyone have any thoughts or advice?
It needs to hold the following:
Sony 32PWFX20S
Pioneer DV-717 DVD Player
JVC HR-S7500EK VCR
Denon 2802 reciever (soon!)
Arcam CD72 (soon!)
X-Box (soon!)
Technics RS-TR474 Cassette Deck
Thanks in advance

You might want to think about Quadraspire tables.
I have a TV stand and now all my AV kit on a Q4 table.
www.quadraspire.com
They're not the cheapest on the market, but they don't cost as much as the Optimum you quoted. They also look the biz
I have the Optimum2000 AV300 stand you can buy extra shelfs
£120 or is it the corner stands your after?
How's it going Sean? I seem to be getting alot of advice from you mate :D
Anyway, that seems like what I want, although I wouldn't be able to fit everything I've got on it. I've got abit of kit and I want it to fit on one unit.... maybe I could keep the center speaker on top of the TV and have averthing else below?? A longer/wider one would be perfect.
Any more thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
In case those who replied are intrested I THINK I've made a decision.... I'm going to go with the Soundstyle AV rack as seen HERE (http://www.soundstyle.net/XS310BIG.htm) - it looks sweet, holds a 32" TV and my separates and is relatively inexpensive at around £290.
Thanks for the advice :)
Tee, I too am looking into some units/shelves. Try www.apollohifi.co.uk. | really like the look of there modular kit and at sensible prices too. It looks very similar to the one you have your mind set on with Soundstyle.

Tee,
Which version costs £290? The "FInewood" or the "XS/LS Series"?
Cheers
PaulMc - that Apollo link takes you too an under construction screen. Any idea of online retailers who sell the modular stuff?? I wouldn't mind checking it out.
sparrow-07 - the XS/XL series seem to be around the £280 mark

Tee:
If you're interested you'll find someone selling this this stand on ebay - see link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1335830404
I bid £150 on it recently but he seems to want a little more for it. My plans have moved on so I'm no longer interested.
Good luck

Thanks for the info mate and I would have jumped at it if the shelves hadn't been 'azure tinted'.... I'm after Onyx
Cheers for the link though :)
Tee,
Sorry about the fullstop. Hope the link was still of use. I am going to order some of their shelfs very soon. Probably in crackle black.

PaulMc - let me know how you get on with your new rack mate :)
IHK - I saw both of them mate and neither are the colors I want. Thanks for the info though.
I just picked up a 2nd hand Sonus Excel AV rack to go with my Loewe Aconda and yes it looks slick and makes my hifi sound crisper... problem is, it's a lot higher than the crappy old rack I had before and I have to crane my neck upwards to watch TV which isn't good. Also, the TV sits quite a bit higher than my speakers which are on either site.
Can anybody recommend a good 'low' AV rack?
Thanks in advance!

I reckon about 50cm, so the top of my TV is about level with the top of speakers and stands (Mission 780s on a pair of Atacama SE24s)...
I was originally looking at the Atacama Equinox AV and the height of this is 61 cm. Now though, I'm going for the Soundstyle XS 310 and the height of this is 61.8 cm. Are these too high for you?
Well I ordrered a Soundstyle XS 310 in Onyx today...... I should pick it up on Tuesday

I can reccomend www.ashdesign.com/ as I have one of their racks for my hifi, I nearly bought the AV rack Cosmic Classic S3 (£400) but ended up with the hifi rack instead, very good build and excellent sonic qualities make it a great buy if not a tad expensive. good luck in your quest, the other one I liked at the time of purchase purely on looks was the Soundsytle AV (310?) rack HTH's.
