Sharp widescreen 32" stuck on standby?

Ill give the details like model number on back of TV
Sharp 66FW-54H
Solid state colur television reciever ratng 220-240V-50hz
Power Consumption 180w
s/n 011715S96

I have had the tv since Feb last year second hand and since day 1 I have had problems, first was there was bad interference, i.e wavy liness like rf all time even when no rf connected or perfect pic, and other was NTSC signals were streched so much it was unwatchable i.e a film like Kill Bill which has the ratio was streched without changing modes to full screen, or a normal full screen film/game was streched so it was unwatchable.

Also now it is stuck on standby, I came back from work last Saturday and turned it on, it made a minor hiss/humming sound and now wont go off standby mode, the room had the heating on full blast as I was sweating so maybe this could be why?

Try leaving it unplugged from mains for a few days.

It can be something as simple as a faulty component caused by a dry joint, it could be a faulty line output transformer, it could be the crt...in short it could be dozens of things.
The set is stuck in standby as a form of protection due to a fault.
The room heating is unlikely to have had anything to do with it.
Best bet is to call in an experienced engineer...there is not a lot you can do yourself.
