Freeview "Scart to RGB" problems?

Can anyone help me?

I have bought a Freeview box with a scart out socket which has a RGB out spec.

However despite buying a £25 scart to RGB adaptor I can't get my projector to show the freeview in component video mode?

However the same adaptor works using my dvd's scart output to my projector in component video mode and i have exchanged the freeview box once already.

The manufacturers help line have not been able to help, and reading around similar threads it sounds like i may have to buy a more expensive scart to rgb transcoder/converter.

I have checked and changed the freeview outputs to RGB mode but still no joy. The projectors error message is "not supported" but as I say it works using the same spec. with my dvd player!

My questions are;

(1) What scart to rgb equipment do I need to buy/try to get my projector to show the freeview signal in component video mode?

and

(2) Why is this happening? I would really like to understand more about why this problem is occuring

Any help comments or advice will be much appreciated

Cheers

Ely

It sounds like you are using a Scart (RGB) to Component cable/adaptor and your Freeview box doesn't output component on the scart output. You would need an expensive RGB to Component convertor to do the job or replace the Freeview box with one that supports the feature.

The DVD player may support component on it's scart output.

A similar question has been asked before and as I recall the answer was that none of the scores of freeview STB's would output anything other than RGB, S-video and composite. The one exception that was mentioned as having component output was the Netgem.
