S-video connections

Just a simple question. Does an s-video connection also output sound or just picture. I bought an s-video cable called superAV from dixons for £30 and the rep said it outputs sound aswell. The casing just says clearer sound but doesnt say if i need aditional connections for the sound. Someone please clear this up for me as ive heard s-video only outputs video.

I'm a gog!

Another nail in the coffin for Dixon's cerdibility!

S-video definitely carries video only.

To be specific, S-video carries separate baseband luminance and chrominance signals that are normally combined in the composite connection, and hence gives a rather better picture. It is standard definition only.

It is only scart and HDMI that carry sound as well as video.

Use the likes of Dixons etc. to get a good price never use them for advice, go to a real HiFi store for that
