How high should you wallmount a plasma?

Need to do this tomorrow night & would like to hear other's exeriences so I start in roughly the right place... I appreciate it depends on the viewing distance, and I expect the prime TV watching seat will be about 10-11 feet back from the wall

Happy to do some trig if an angle is a more sensible answer

Well, I did a search for "Wall Mount height" but hundreds of posts came back, about every plasma subject under th sun, so I retreated to the safety of a new thread

and if I put it above the fireplace, it'll have to be in someone else's house, and that won't do at all

Depends on how high your kids can reach (if you have any)

I have mine so the bottom edge of the screen is at eye level when sitting down. The reason being that most of the time I'm leaning back in the chair/sofa and so naturally looking slightly upwards.

I worried about this too. When they are too high I feel it looks weird.

I wall mounted my Panny.

In the end I measured what height it would be at, if it was on the Panasonic floor stand and then put it at this height on the wall.

Works fine and looks smart. Mid screen is eye level like jan erik said.

See here for picts.

Plasma wall mount £12.50

Get a carboard cut out and put it on the wall. Move it around til you feel it is at the right height for viewing. It is a personal preference and I think many people go too high. Mine is about 1m up from the floor.

Depends how high the fireplace is.
I am viewing my 435xde from about 8ft away and I have mine above a fireplace with no problems whatsoever. The bottom of the plasma frame is just 112cm above the floor.
(Height of fireplace is about 98cm - leaving just enough room for a centre-speaker)

See my pictures in my signature.

Exclamation How high to mount a plasma

Just went through this exercise - eye height to middle of screen, eye height to bottom of screen (chairs tilt back) etc. Anyway when wall-mounting my 436XDE recently, I had it all measured out using the screen dimensions. Then, just before drilling for 14 mm bolts, it struck me that I should take the smaller dimensions of the bracket into account and measured down from the screen top measurement. Then drilled away. Shock, horror! Realised afterwards that instead of measuring down 8.6cms I had measured 8 6/10 inches! Well NASA got it wrong too.
Anyway, did not redrill and went ahead to discover that the height was perfect after all.

fwiw, I ended up putting mine 1m from the floor, and we sit either 7feet or 15ft away on the two sofas and it's just about perfect.

Thanks for the advice
