Remote on/off with Alpha 9?

I just bought an Alpha 9 + 9P combo and I'm very pleased with it except for one thing: neither unit switches on or off from standby with the CR235 remote that came with it. All the other functions work fine (source selection, volume, mute etc). The same remote switches my A22 on/off fine. Am I missing something obvious? I can't see anything about this in the manual although the manual does refer to a CR35 remote rather than the CR235.
Any help appreciated!

How did you get them into standby in the first place? I thought you could only switch the Alpha 9 on or off with the front panel button.

Timmy C, I think you just answered my question. I assumed that the remote was supplied with the unit and since it has a standby button... But presumably not. Surprising, but not a problem.

ive got the alpha 10 and the 10p and if i press the standby button on the remote the 10 switches off but the 10p doesnt.

however, on the back of the alpha 10 and the 10p is a 3.5mm connector. connecting the alpha 10 to the 10p with the 3.5mm cable enables both amps to be switched to standby via the remote.
