THX Ultra 2 - What does it mean?

Hey all,
I read in an earlier post some comments about THX Ultra 2 being an issue when using the AVP700 with a P7. I realize that the AV8/9 and the P7 are all TXH Ultra 2 certified, but what does this mean? I understood it to mean that certain specifications had been met (performance wise). I also heard that if the entire system is THX certified that you can run in THX Surround mode. This would seeminly include all components including speakers and cabling? Someone please enlighten me. Even with the AV8 and P7 certified the DV29 is not. Additionally there are few speakers with THX certification, will either of these issues affect using THX surround mode? Is there any benefit at all?? HELP!!

As I understand it, it means that the P7 uses a gain of 29db which is the THX requirement and not 31.5db which is what other Arcam amps use. If you only plan on using a P7 then I don't think it would be a problem, but it would stop you from using say another Arcam stereo power amp to bi-amp 2 channels with the P7 if for example you used all 7.1 channels for surround sound. You'd have to find a 2 channel THX certified amp instead.

As for the details of THX, I don't know!!
