Don't know if this has been posted but here goes. Just found Netgear are gonna release this sometime in Q1.
http://tools.netgear.com/skype/
Looks the business if you use skype, and skype is inbedded, so finally no PC!

Looks cool. I wonder if there's any way to upgrade the Skype version once you've got the phone, or are you stuck with the embedded version?

Hmmm.
Good question, I never thought of that. It could be done via firmware I guess

most PDA's are not up to it, CPU speed wise, on my XDA2s the voice is garbled, but the guy on the other end could here me fine, they need to refine the software more for these slowed handheld devices...

Voip Phone
I think the new Siemens SL550 due out April, looks the sexiest to-date.
Not into voip yet but becoming interested.
Regards
John

Unfortunately, if you want to use it at home with your secured wifi access point, you can't. The Netgear one doesn't support WPA, only WEP.
Not much good really without WPA support. If they can include it I would definately buy one!

Skype Wifi phone
Hi,
Not sure about the Netgear phone but our WiFi skype phone supports: WPA, WEP, Open networks, multiple skype accounts and can be flashed to support SIP instead. 15 hour battery with 4 hour talktime and built in WiFi finder.

Sounds great!
Any links, prices, etc? (if you're allowed)
I'd definately be interested in one as a sip device.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I am interested but I suspect the sort of info I would be after you won't be able to reveal until after launch.
I am thinking this might be a good alternative to our cheap but usefull DualPhone and, one where I don't have to leave my MDA3 at home for the misses to use as a (rather expensive and overspecced!) Skype phone!
