Sony DAVDZ500F - Component Video Out?

Does this package offer component video out? The Sony website says no but I find that difficult to believe. If not whats the closest rival to offer CVO?

Thanks...Gary

Yes, this has component out - but not optical or coaxial in, you will need to go up to the DAV DZ700FW if you want those digital audio connections. BUt then for not a lot more you get wireless rear speakers - which I hear are actually quite good...

500 does have optical or coax, not sure which on top of my head.
While 700 has both.

Nope! Checked the back of a 500 in Selfridges the other day as I wanted to buy one - no coax OR optical...

Which is why I went for the 700!!!!

I was thinking about getting the 500 using the £200 cashback deal towards it with a new LCD, so the digital-in audio connections on the 700 would give an 5.1 auxillary sound output for an xbox for example?

Yes they would, or sky+, or a separate dvd recorder......
you'd get two devices maximum, one via optical, one via co-ax....
if you want more you can use an optical splitter.....

Piggy-backing on this thread, a friend has just bought the DZ500 and a Samsung DVD recorder. I notice from the specs for the DZ500 that it has video in via SCART. Does that mean he could link up his Samsung that way and the picture would make its way to his LCD telly via the component link from the Sony?
