Motorcycles drive my Freeview CRAZY!
Strange problem, I gather some sort of interfearance.... New aerial of the freeview sort, excellent signal, get all channels, never a problem. But every time a moped comes past (scooter) it freezes the box up for around 5 seconds. Happened on old box, happened on brand new £900 JVC IDTV just the same....
Any ideas guys? Cars don't cause it, it happens maybe 100 times a day so it's a problem. Never happens without the loud buzzing of some chavs riding past.
Greg.

What cabling and aerial have you got? You can get add on DMR (Dynamic Margin Rising) devices that can reduce the effect, plus ensure you cable is double shielded such as CT100 or WF100.

This will undoubtedly be poor interference suppression on the offending vehicles' ignition. On "old" TV you might have had a few seconds of sparklies. On digital TV you get breakup.
The only things you can do are:
a) improve the screening in all stages of the aerial feed by using better screened cable - and fewer plugs and sockets if feasible.
b) if that fails, get the signal strength from the aerial even higher with a masthead amplifier (note - not an in-room one; this will only amplify the interference as well).
c) if that fails, identify the culprit(s) and report them to OFCOM (I think); RF interference is actually illegal.

Also have this problem with my samsung box. Have tried several things to stop it all without sucsess, the biggest improvement was having the aerial in the loft.
The boy racers in thier novas also cause interference, and im told it's caused by using unserpressed plug leads.

1) Make sure you have shielded cable - eg CT100
2) Raise the front of the aerial up a couple of degrees, this is supposed to work.
3) Find them and make them get their bikes fixed!
