Arcam P1000/P7/P35 ?

Hi,

I am looking for a 5 channel amplifier to go with my Lexicon MC-8 and intend to go in the Arcam direction. What interests me most is stereo and 100 Watt/channel is enough for me. The currently available Arcam choices are: FMJ P7, Diva P1000 or FMJ P35/3+P35.

I recently tested the Arcam FMJ A32 (as power amp->identical as P35) and was quite impressed with the sound as power amplifier. But i am not able to test the Diva P1000 or FMJ P7.
Did anyone compare these amps ? What would be the best solution for stereo ?

Is Arcam going to release a successor for the P35 in the near future ?

Kind regards,
Erwin

Apart from the lack of balanced i/p, the P7 is a far superior amplifier than the P1000, especially for music replay (IMHO).

I agree with Greggles. The P1000 is IMHO a departure from traditional Arcam fare. The P7 is sensational. The P1000 was a little disapointing. I also am a little suspicisous of the balanced connections as they sounded very weak compared to equivalnet unbalanced. Even considering the difference in investment I would lean very heavily towards the P7.
Cheers
I repeat though that this is just my opinion. When it comes to Home Theatre the P1000 holds it own nicely.

I can second the quality of the P7. It's an excellent amp and good value for money.

And how is the P7 compared to the P35 for music ? I only need 5 channels and a combination of P35/3+P35 is cheaper than a P7.

Can't personally comment on this as I only demoed multi-channel amps in comparison.
