Samaung with HD4 chip set and IDTV coming soon!
Spoke to Samsung UK Marketing about which chip sets were in which models. Below is the information they sent me (and said it was OK to share).
The new 50" and above will have IDTV, but not sure about the 46". They are discontinuing the pedestal design (SP507LX) because the market will no longer accept a significant premium for design/style alone. The pricing sounds as if it will be quite agressive as they were talking about £1400 for the 50"...but we will see if this really happens!
Hope this proves helpfull.
Martyn.

Thanks for the info.
Anyone know if these are 1080p? Also, are these the new LED light sources?

You sure its the HD4 chip (720p, 2500:1 contrast) and not the xHD4 (1080p, 10,000:1 contrast)?
If its HD4 then its likely that Samsung are merely dumping their old stock on the UK whilst the US market steams even further ahead with the better and newer xHD4 technology - pq wise, the new HD4 sets should be on par with the current Sagem range which also use HD4. If its xHD4 then smiles all round!

A real shame they are discontinuing the pedestal version, it's one of the few large screen TV's that actually looked like the money you paid for it I know it was a love it or hate it thing, but for me it was the best design by far.
Maybe I will just have to hold out for the new SXRD sets now then

Hope they don't cost much. They will ahve the L6 design right? That looks ugly, the L7 is amazing, but maybe we might get the new designs we saw in CES, those black ones.

Nothings clear I'm afraid. These sets were predicted to arrive in November last year in Europe but failed to appear. Its pretty clear that Samsung are releasing new models but whether its 720p sets or 1080p sets hasn't yet been verified (no disrespect to Martyn369).
We'll just have to wait another few weeks for an official announcement and then we'll know for sure. If its 720p models then I think Samsung are making a big mistake, the market is saturated with 720p's and unless they offer vastly superior contrast then they already have pretty stiff competition from the likes of Sagem and Sony who are already well established and with SkyHD's links with Sony, the market simply does not need yet another variation on an aging format.

That looks lke the HLS5679 I think it's called - the forthcoming LED DLP RPTV.
No bulb, no colourwheel, no rainbows. Cool

The lack of a colour wheel does not necessarily imply no rainbows. Rainbows will happen any time you have the red, green and blue parts of the image projected at different times rather than all at once. If the image is produced by using a single DLP chip that is illuminated successively by red, green and blue LEDs, you'll get just as many rainbows, assuming the frequency of sub-frames is the same. LEDs can cycle much faster than a colour wheel can spin between segments, but the between-frame time is more likely to be limited by the rate at which the DLP mirrors can switch rather than by the light source.
