went to the manchester sound and vision show yesterday and severnoaks had som arcam gear for sale. it was av8 and p7 which the manchester branch used in there dem room, so its vertually brand new. they had it up for £1500 for the p7 and £1800 for the av8. i was intrested in the p7 and after loads of haggeling i got it for £1200 complete with full fmj warrenty once the registration card is sent off. i turned my interest away from the av8 cause i'm only really interested in the av9 because its hdmi.
oh not a bad show as well. more hifi than home cinema though.

Are you not forgetting that if you had bought the AV8 for £1800 you could have got it upgraded to AV9 spec for £700, still saving you £1100 on the new price of the AV9 which is £3600.

the deal was from severnoaks in manchester who were at the show. they wanted £1500 i got it for £1200.
then crustys post got me thinking about the av8. so i gave severnoaks a ring on the monday and enquired about an AV9 they said "£3600 to order but we do have an AV8 in which can be upgraded, but unfortunatley we sold the p7 at the show which has forced us to lower the price of the av8 to £1650 because the woman on the till should have sold them as a set"
"thants no good without the amp " i said, "will you take £1400". after a chat with the manager the deal was done.
i went to the shop. checked and demo'ed it. phoned arcam customer services to make sure it was unregistered and paid up the £1400.
At this point the manager said "do you want to order the p7"
"No thanx" i replied, "i bought one at the show on saturday thanx"

Funny tale. Well done.
I saw a Krell KAV400xi at the show in the clearance section which looked slightly overpriced. I am still interested but don;t know where it would be.
Did you happen to notice it at Sevenoaks in Manchester when you collected your AV8 ?

but if you phone severnoaks manchester they may have it.
otherwise the manageress from severnoaks leeds was selling on behalf of a few traders at the show and she may know where it was from, so give here a ring.
