M Audio soundcard problem

Got the M Audio Dio 24/96 in there and wow is DVD playerback sounding miles better than with my £30 Fortissimo sound card !
Anyhow, one issue is that MP3 playback using Winamp isn't going to the S/PDIF output. Analogue wave phono L+R, yes. But not to the S/PDIF where I want it.
I've played in vein with the settings for the M Audio card. Rounting and that.
Any suggestions?

Whenever I had that problem the solution was either in the preferred audio device, or 'patchboy router'. Try selecting monitor output in SPDIF Out section.

Thanks - by selecting the Monitor output for S/PDIF, it works. Although I have to swap it back to S/PDIF out for the S/PDIF for movies.
Not ideal but ok.
