Underworld evolution thoughts.
Went to see Underworld evoloution yesterday afternoon. I was surprised by a couple of things.
Firstly , an action horror film, that actually has an 18 cert. This is a pleseant surprise and makes a change from the PG13 12A or bland 15 rated films that have been feed to us on mass recently.
Secondly, I enjoyed it
I wasnt really a fan of the first movie. Its in the Mrs collection of dvds and, although I have seen it ,I cant say that I thought it really needed a sequel. Now this movie continues pretty much straight on from the first, albeit with a bit of backstory thrown in at the start of the movie for anyone who doesnt really now whats going on. However, dont go in to this feature expecting a decent overall plot! The movie is really just an excuse to have plenty of action and gore and a little bit of T and A thrown in for good measure.
Anyway, before I start sounding like I dont like Underworld evoulotion, let me just say that even though it really does have very little in the way of plot and story, Its main purpose, and what it delivers very well, is the action , violence and gore, and boy does this film have it in spades!.
From the openeing flash back to the year 1200 and somthing, through to the end demise of the main villan, it has plenty of moments of the kind of action violence you dont get to see to often in this sanatised politically correct world of ours, and the film is all the better for it.
If you liked the first Underworld movie and you are a fan of the Blade movies, then I suggest you get your self along to your local multiplex and check it out. As I have seen on another post. Its the movie Vanhelsing should have been
7 1/2 out of 10. It looses some points because of its lack of plot
Dave.

I am excited about seeing this movie, I loved the first one and have lost count how many times I have seen it. Cheers for the mini review Dave, glad you enjoyed it.

I saw this yesterday too and while I did enjoy it, I felt they struggled to keep the film going for its full 1 hour 45min. Normally I feel films aren't long enough (extended edition of Return of The King being an exception of course) but this one could've done with being about 10mins shorted.
Of course saying that, I wouldn't know which bits to cut out.
It was refreshing to see a proper 18 gory action film I thought I would have to wait for Sin City part 2 before I got that again!
I'll definitely want to watch it again on rental dvd but am not sure if I'll want to buy it.
All in all a fun movie and it put me in the right frame of mind for my steak dinner. Raw of course

Agree with all the pros, i liked the first one, thought this was better. Gone are the days of bad sequals. A bit of wishful thinking on my part.

Went & saw this on Friday & thought it was great.
Best film I've seen for a long time & does the series justice.
The gore factor swayed it for me as well, was really refreshing to see so much of the claret spraying
The only thing I will say that went against it IMO was that some of the fight scenes were a bit too dark to make much sense of what was happening (Especially the opening flashback bit) but aside from that was a great little movie with some good CGI.

I just wondered.... do we need to see the first "Underworld" film to understand enjoy this second installment?
I really liked the first film and plan to see the sequel. But my wife hasn't seen the first, so I wondered if I should take a couple of hours of her time and make her watch the DVD of the first film before I take her for the second part?
