Panasonic SCHT 530 Audio out question

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting the SCHT530. there's only one point I'd like to know.

I have quite a decent stereo amp with speakers, and I would like to be able to listen to MP3 via my normal stereo system. The SCHT does not have an explicit audio out connection, but I was wondering whether the audio signal is going out via the SCART, then I could use the appropriate cable to connect to my stereo.

Could anyone, who already owns the SCHT530 try whether you can hear the
CD/MP3 playback on your telly, please? That would confirm that the audio signal is indeed going out through the SCART connector.

Thanks very much for your help.

Martin.

Hi Martin,

I have the SCHT 530 and it is fantastic, sound on Cd's and Dvd excellent,
as far as your question is concerned, it says in the manual to turn the volume right down on TV so I don't think it going to do what you want it to. Barry.

Thanks Barry,

That statement in the manual doesn't really say it's not working. Could you please just give it a quick try, when you use your system anyway? That'll be great!

The SC-HT530 does output stereo sound from its SCART socket. I can confirm this because I install Panasonic equipment for a living.

If you were to turn down the master volume on the SC-HT530 itself then you would still be able to hear the sound through your TV's speakers. It would be pretty pointless if you couldn't - what if you wanted to watch a DVD late at night and could only use the surround speakers?

It definitely sends audio through the SCART output to the TV. Hope that helps!

Hi Martin,
I have tried to get sound using TV volume, when using DVD with out any luck.
I can here the sound when watching Sky programmes, perhaps Iron Monkey can direct me to the settings to do this? Barry.

As far as I can remember, there aren't any settings to enable sound output to the TV via SCART - it does it by default. Are you sure you're using a fully-wired SCART lead from your DVD to your TV?
