Cannot play T2 Extreme DVD
Just recieved my copy of T2 Extreme DVD hoping to watch it in the windows media 9 High Def version. Some questions
1. I cant even get it to play in windows media I have to use Interactual Player which I do not want to do.
2. Even when I install this against my own will I have to log onto the internet to get a liscence and then it wont give me one cos I am in the UK.
This is ridiculous I use Slysoft anyDVD to remove region codes for my PC so why can I not play this DVD?
Any help appreciated because I have ordered a few more of the so called HD WHD DVDs from the states and if they are all the same why did I bother at all
John

DRM is the reason why you can not watch this dvd, you have to fool the DRM that you are in the US and it will work. I did this a long time ago with Coral Seas and it worked fine.
There is info of this in these forums you will just have to hunt it down.

there is thread on AVSFORUM.COM relating to this - Ihttp://www.avsforum.com/avs- vb/showthread.php?t=262553, but the essence is this:
1. if you run dvdplay.exe (I think that is the name) it will do its thing and you will be able to play it in Media Player - you need to locate the actual movie files in explorer on the CD - more on the above thread.
2. Artisan only allow the use of the HD content by users with a r1 IP address - this is solved by finding a US proxy server to get the license file.
I followed the thread and aside from an issue with my box, got it to work. You need to go pretty far down the proxy list to get one that works for the license and don't use an anonymous one.

Just reading up on link. Does this also work with WMP10? looks like they are refering to WMP9

This really me off! You by a DVD how hard can it be to play it. 28 bluddy forum pages to read patch this patch that play with proxy servers! AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHH!
How frustrating can it be. Im so sick of having to read up for hours to perform the simplest things like watch a DVD
MOD EDIT: please do not attempt to circumvent the swear filter

Yes, I have this and Underworld and have yet to play either on my home system.
Never have gotten a US proxy to work from the UK (they keep on adding them to an exception list, stopping you from using them for authentication) and none of the ripping techniques have worked for me.
Yet another reason to kick HD into touch.......if Bru-Ray take off this will almost certainly be the norm with every disc.
I find it irronic that the only HD content I have played successfully are the pirates I have downloaded after not getting my originals to work. What a great system

I too have the Underworld WMV-HD edition and it has no DRM. Maybe you should give it another go.
I did get T2 to work eventually, but after a while the sound stopped so I gave up.
John, It's not DVDplay.exe, but DVDRun.exe. It's on the Extreme DVD, but there's a lot more to do to get it running. PM me for info, but it's a lot of work for something which may not work. Just watch the regiular DVD print. It's still very nice.
Oh and if you do get the HD print of T2 to play there's a good chance that it will only be pro-logic and not 5.1. Even with AC3filter, I couldn't get 5.1 across spdif.

Hi I clicked on the DVDRUN.EXE and I get a small window saying
"This disk requires internet connectivity and Internet Explorer Version 5.0 or higher"
I have IE 6.0 but I use Mozilla Firefox as my default brouser. I have changed to IE default browser but I get the same message

John, I haven't seen that message before - and I also us firefox as my browser. have you tried running it from the command prompt? Best bet is to go through that AVS forum link - it seems long, but they went through everything before they got it to work.

Re: Cannot play T2 Extreme DVD
Hi all,
I finally found a proxy that worked.
70.66.18.201, port 80
I don't know how long it's gonna work so hurry.
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I'm disappointed with the sound quality of disc 1. Why have they only got DD 5.1 EX? The previous edition had DTS ES.
I compared them both using a really cheap player for DTS and a fairly descent player for the extreme copy. There's significant difference.
I supposed I can't complain too much. The only reason I bought the extreme dvd was to check it out on my 20" Widescreen LCD. Only paid 6 quid send hand.
I'm pretty impressed with the pic quality. But Interactual player really sucks. You've got zero control.
Anyway, hope this helps everyone.
Dude
