When are we going to get commercial Blu-ray players in Europe

Now that Pioneer etc have announced commercial Blu-ray players for USA starting around May,does anyone know when any are due in Europe?

My Sevenoaks dealer did tell me a while ago that Pioneer are due to release one but he did not know when.

AVLand are suggesting a Pioneer model will be released in September. Several sites have also suggested that Toshiba's HD DVD models will have a UK released around that time as well.

There is a good interview with Pioneer's Andy Parsons talking about Blu-ray players and discs on the Digital Bits website. Check it out:-

the managed copy function is mandatory on software titles, but the hardware does not necessarily have to support it.
And in any case the studios are allowed to disable it on any software they choose .. and Fox are going to add their own DRM piggy-backed on to AACS which is where MMC is defined .. bottom line: forget MMC, it'll never happen ...
