Hello
Microsoft is keeping pretty quiet about the system specs for Vista but most (if not all) mostly new PCs (say the ones bought in the last 4 or 5 years) should be able to run it, but it may not be able to run the new UI (user interface)
To run Vista you will need at least 512MB DDR RAM but I have heard that they do recommend about 2GB
Here are the lists of CPUs that will be able to run Vista
Intel CPU's
The Intel site which has the CPUs that it supports is quite complicated so just say a CPU bought from Intel in the last 3 or 4 years should be fine, but here is the link to the site if you would like to look for yourself

AMD Desktop CPU's (my future choice)
AMD Athlon™ 64 FX Processor
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor
AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor
AMD Sempron™ Processor
AMD Mobile CPU's

Windows vista will now take more from your GPU (your graphics card) than other windows OS’s did and this is because if the new UI (user interface)
The new UI is mean to incorporate new glass effects on title bars and also animated windows when you minimise and maximize them, but also desktop icons are meant to be animated as well so when you empty the recycle bin then it will play a little animation of that happening but most (if not all) is powered from your GPU
Your graphics card will need something called WDDM to be able to have the new UI but only recent graphics have this, here is the list of ATI and NVIDIA cards that have this and that already have a driver for Vista ready on their sites for download for Beta 1 testers

These at the moment are the GPU’s that have WDDM and should be able to support the new Vista UI but don’t worry if you haven’t got a graphics card with WDDM, I have heard reports from Microsoft that on install Vista will scan your system and if you can’t run the new UI Vista will still install but you will just have a UI of XP
At the moment that is all I know about the system specs for Vista gathered from a number of sites but hopefully they will give out more info in the summer but if they want people to upgrade then I don’t think that they will set the specs too high anyway
I hope this helps you
