Factors influencing choice of DVD player.

Mornin!

Been posting recently about a DVD player to deliver a DVi signal to my Toshiba 30WL46 LCD.

Been looking at the usual suspects for lowish priced players.

Samsung DH950
Denon 1920
Sony NS92 etc.

Looking at all the players I have noticed that the Samsung seems to have the nicest remote.

Will the Samsung work OK with my old DVi equipped panel? I will have to Multi region it immediately as i have loads of R1 DVD's

I am taking the shand that all the players have issues, bu tthe Samsung comes with cables and has a nice remote

Am i mad??

My Marantz DV4100 OSE has a terrible remote

Ta

I'd expect you to have problems with your panel, if as you say it's "old" then it may well not support HDCP, if that's the case and you can't disable HDCP on the Samsung then it won't (or shouldn't if it conforms to the license for the HDMI chipset) output a digital signal when playing a protected DVD.. and some players enable HDCP even on non-protected DVDs.

It was once pretty easy to get a black box to remove the HDCP infestation but those rapidly disappeared last autumn .. you may be lucky to have someone point you at a source for these but I wouldn't know of one.
