Just to let you know that it seems that Woolworths have pulled this promotion at £144.99.
I went into two stores today, and none would sell the product, even though they have stock.
Apparantly they are being recalled to head office.
There goes a bargain.

Managed to get one for £139.97 from P.C. World in the end :)

They must be on some promo
So far so good with mine, however not had chance to really try it on a new unknown destination. It seems like the maps are UK and Europe

I was thinking about TomTom One - although tempted by the price of this. Has anyone used one and would you recommend it or be able to write a few plus/minus points please?

Have a look here (http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283632), there are some positive reports on the tom tom (I just bought one). They also have the last chipset (SRiFIII) and a 380mhz processor (better than the go 300). I got one for £228

Thanks, Mal, but I was meaning what are the Garmin I3's like? I cant seem to find the TomTom One at any where near the price you paid, let alone the £150 the I3 may be available for.

O.K. I have had mine for a few days.
Plusses:
-Cheap
-Size- I actually like the small dimensions. Means it fits onto the windscreen without obscuring the view.
-Good mapping.
-Very clear voice instructions.
-Can, with software downlaoded from Garmin, use the speed camera database.
-I like the way you can run it in just map mode, when you know the route you are taking. Then you just get audible alerts for any speed/traffic cameras on route.
Negs:
London- didn't cope well on a trip into London to be honest. Got confused regularly when roads ran parrallel and directly under another- but then I expect all sat-nav would do this. Gave me the wrong instructions once as well verbally- tip look at the written direction at the top of the screen- this seems more accurate when swapping from slipways to motorways etc.
Routing- only allows you to specify one "via" point when planning a trip- so if you know a faster way because of traffic flow- it is difficult to programme this in. Though in reality, you don't need a satnav when you know they way do you? From now on, i'll just use mapping mode when faced with these situations.
Overall for the price though- very very good.

Much appreciated, mooro1973, that's a decent review.
Shame about some of the mapping prob's in London - that's where I do most of my driving/getting lost! Decisions, decisions ...

Is this correct mooro? Only because the TomTom website lists the feature that you can program multiple waypoints and destinations on the TT1 but you think it will only do one via point (or is it just such a pain in the behind that it's not worth counting as a feature?:smashin: )

My brief experience of the i3 (no other GPS experience) is as follows:
+ve
Cheap
Small
Simple to use
Easily add POIs e.g. down load speed camera database :
POIs such as Restraunts, Petrol, Shops, etc
Use cigaret lighter or normal every day AA batteries
Clear screen
Night mode
Seems to include Northern Europe Maps which I never expected!!!
-ve
Too Simple - may be limited, can not tell it to avoid certain areas
Slow to find satalites on a cold start - 1mintute
So far it has shown me routes to my home, it seems to pick what it thinks is the fastest but I know I can go others ways but quicker (perhaps by breaking the speed limit :( ). Still its routes seem logical
I have yet to use it to travel somewhere unknown, will be testing it tommorow. I already think it is a bargain - GO GET ONE!

Now that is a ridiculously good deal, and in no way can tom tom now justify the price differential between the "go" and the "i3".

Dubster, a very big thank you    .
I just got one from Somerfields and it is a fantastic product for £100. (Even the sign in the store had this up at £150 (already reduced), so I asked them to check the price and it was £100.)
I got back to the car & plugged it in and initially was concerned as it took around 5 mins to load the languages etc, but that is just a one-off thing. I entered my home postcode and after another minute to locate satellites I was on my way. Absolutely no problems with directions all the way home.
Definitely worth a 45 minute drive to get this.

Alan,
Where are you? I got one at the Brentford store (W London) - they told me over the phone that they had 'lots' and that I did not need to reserve one. I suggest you just look up all stores near you and call them one by one.

I am trying to ascertain if the offer at £99.99 is somehow regional.

well if n e one wants one and lives in the bristol area...theres one left at the st.annes branch.
im quite happy with this, ok its my first one, signal got lost a couple of times, but thats because i was in a couple of dipped areas with tall buildings., so maybe expected.
from cold start, it only taken a few minutes to get a lock, though i confused the garmin a few times, coz i plotted home in, and it would of taken me a way i would not of went, so it had to re-adjust a few times to plot the way i was going, but the garmin done that pretty quick.
as for the voice signals, its pretty clear, no probs there, it warns about 0.2miles away from a turn off point, then tells you to turn again as you are..... i dunno within 10-15 yards to take the turning.
mapping seems pretty good also.
i noticed it as v8 mapping, but v2.50 firmware, there is a later version...v2.70, so will load that on a see if it improves the garmin some more.
overall though, its a small device, smaller then i expected, the screen is still very visible.
its certainly a bargain, glad i bought one now.

I just got one for £99.99 from a local KwikSave - same store group as Somerfield.
This may help others ; I was able to phone a local branch and reserve one (saves a possible wasted journey).
Still some left in Northenden branch, south Manchester.

alan t gives a good review of the i3, but just to mention a couple of extra points:
You can also download speed camera alerts from pocketgps, and secondly, although the i3 is supposed to include European maps, mine doesn't list Germany. Anyone know why?

I was thinking about getting the garmin also to see which one ive prefered but as ive used a pda satnav before and liked its wider uses especially over the limited garmin,it had to be the pda, plus it was nearly £80 cheaper than anywhere else so i couldnt say no

Managed to get one of the PDA systems. I have since read on the MSE forume that there are two versions that have been supplied by Somerfield. One with Navigon version 4.4 and one with version 5. The version 4.4 system as far as I am aware does not support postcode destination entry.
The version I have bought is the 4.4 version. I have still not opened the box yet so I could return it or sell it on ebay.
I am in two minds now as to wether I should keep it and put TomTom on it or return it. My original plan before seeing this offer was to get a second hand orange c500 off e bay and put TomTom mobile on it
Any advice appreciated
