Topfield upgrade problem. Please help newbie

Ten days ago, I purchased a 5800 PVR with a 250GB Hardrive, device version 5.3.33. I have been very happy with it, but the software is only version 5.12.25 and as I was too late for the OTA upgrade, I decided to download version 5.12.26.

I started this task four hours ago and have had no success. I have installed the topfield Windows application with no problems onto my Dell Inspiron 8000, running Windows ME. With the toppy in stand by, I connected the USB, then turned the toppy on and the hardware wizard appeared to work successfully, although it was an extremely quick process.

I then tried to download the latest software into the toppy, first starting the download process on the computer before powering up the toppy from stand by. The message "wait download" appeared, but nothing actually happens, no matter how long you wait. The only thing in the toppy window is PO14.

I have tried both USB ports on my laptop, disconnected and reconnected the USB at the toppy, unzipped the software folder again, all to no avail.

I have looked in the Altair window and while the computer window on the right is full of files, etc. the toppy window on the left is grey and "closed". This would indicate that a connection is jnot being made, yet the hardware wizard appears to find the connection without difficulty.

Somebody please help, it is driving me mad.

I've responded to this over on the Toppy forum with more detail, but thee is no firmware 5.12.26 for ther TF5800; 5.12.25 is the latest version.
