Question Which Type of screws to use when wall mounting?

hi,
just bought a 32" Sharp LC-32GA6E. I am planning on mounting it on a external wall (plasterboard then breeze block) Any ideas which type of screws would be best to use?

I have looked at this type but not sure ( http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...01151&ts=89886 )

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanx

Neil

Use Redidriva?

For platerboard walls with anything heavier than picture frames (like bathroom cabinets and radiators) I've always used these
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...02174&id=11923

When mounting on an external wall, I predrill with a 5 mm wood drill, then swap the bit to a 5 mm masonry bit and take a few mm of brick out... otherwise the the plasterboard gets pushed away from the wall as you tighten the readidriver - they're just slightly longer than the gap between the plaster and the blockwork. Buy a 100 pack and then give some to your friends - they'll be ever greatful.

That said, the most expensive thing I've mounted is a £400 radiator (using only 4 screws), but I'd be nervous about hanging £1000+ of screen on plasterboard, so your original solution may not be overkill. Just make sure your not going through any gas pipes, cables or the fireplace flue

if its a solid wall, get some big heavy duty wall plugs and some big coach screws.

these can be bought from B&Q, well assuming you live in the uk.

deffo these

I used 2 sets of 6 x M8 coach bolts for mounting my 32" LCD ... these matched in strength those supplied with the bracket so I guess it is an indication of the type of bolt used. 2 sets were used due to the sandwich nature of my setup - one set for the batton and another set for the bracket itself. It was possibly a little over engineered - the fixings for the bracket would take up to a 37" display with glass front, but I played safe as using smaller fixings would save me nothing and my sandwich design meant that the weight of the panel was a couple of inches forward of the stud possibly creating a slight rotational force where the batten joins the wall.

I posted my experiences here.

Its still as solid as when I first put it up.

For plasterboard, you definately need to use battons attached to the nearest secure studs. If you do take a look at the photos, I think that the size looks deceptive - it is a 6"x2"x~20" batten and I used large M8 x 60mm coachbolts and the supplied screws for the back plate. The wallmount itself is 11"x6". I think my biggest tips are to survey the wall for studs and noggins, pre drill the holes to prevent the wood from splitting and of course make sure that all A/C power is disconnected in the area - my stud finder had an A/C power finder that was indicating mains radiation from the wall but would not accurately pin point it.
