DIY Subwoofer Help

Hey Peps,

I'm getting a little old for such a loud car audio system and have a Genesis Audiophile 30.01 driver spare and am considering building a sub to replace my little Kef PSW1000.

I was thinking something along the lines of a small sealed box with a BK300 amp panel.

I could simply make a box from 1" mdf but i don't really know how the volume or dimensions of an enclosure effect the sound. So i am asking if anyone out there could design or help me design a simple sealed enclosure.

They have tons of info including links to design doftware that will let you use those parameters to design the correct box.

At first glance this drive unit requires quite a large enclosure at 126 Litres. Is this going to be a problem?

how did you work that out? I just had a 30 litre or 1sq ft enclosure when it was in the car.

Hi Chris

I quickly run the parameters through a simulation program, there are Free programs to be found on the web a good one is WinIsd and it can be found here :- http://www.linearteam.dk/default.asp...load=winisdpro it works out the cabinet for a Q as near to 0.7 it shows you loads of details about the performance of the speaker cabinet volume, SPL Etc. unless I had finger trouble and input the wrong data then unfortunately 126 Litres it is
