Bargain camcorder in Comet

Hi,

Was at Comet last night and saw that they has a Sony Digital 8 camcorder in the sale for £90. Not sure of the model, but it was new and 'end of line'.

Is it worth a buy or not? When I bought my Hi-8 in 1999 I paid £350 and thought I had done well (half price) but a Sony for 90 quid - seems too good to be true...

To clarify, it is fairly chunky and has a swing out monitor screen.

Any input really appreciated - do I leave it there or rush down and pick it up after work?

Cheers in advance,

Ian

If it will play your old 8mm tapes, has firewire output and an inbuilt timebase corrector "TBC" for tidying up the playback picture from your old tapes, then I would consider it a good purchase. I think all recent sony digital 8's will have these features, but you really need to check first. If it has all these features then you will have the means to digitise your analogue recordings. Do you know the model number?, it should start DCR-....
