Question Toshiba 40PW13P Convergence Problem

I've got a Toshiba 40PW13P rear projection television which I bought in 2001.

On Tuesday evening after 10 seconds of the tele being switched on the convergence jumped to being completely out on 3 sections of the screen - the top two corners and along the bottom middle. It looked as though the green was out and anything that needed to be white had a green 'shadow' above it.

I removed the back of the tele and removed the convergence module as I have read in this forum of notorious Toshiba dry joint problems, and inspected it. Nothing visible. I pushed and prodded a few boards and ICs with the tele on but to no avail.

Secondly, I entered into the service engineer's menu to see if I could adjust the green manually. Sure enough, the green was out in the said positions. However, you could not adjust the green lines up or down in the broken regions of the screen. Anywhere else on the screen and you had full movement control.

If anyone has had this problem and have solved it or got it repaired I would be eternally grateful for any advise regarding remedies or price.

Thanks.

I'd appreciate any info on this problem as my Tosh rearpro 40PWDB8 recently 'acquired' a red convergence problem. I still have the set and intend to do a bit of digging around in the new year see if i can do anyhting within service menu or whether or not a full pukka repair is needed. Other than this it's fine, dolby digital 5.1 et al .... cheers!!
