Component cable connecting problems

I bought an avious 20" lcd just over a year ago along with a jvc home cinema and have been happy using scart until now. But once i have bought a jvc vx-j150 component cable, the screen is showing twoo pictures on it with a band down the middle. The screen is an avious LD2000/NT and the home cinema a JVC TH-S3. Could you please advise me on how to sort this out?
Many thanks

Have you set the DVD player to "component out"?

The cables are coming from video out which is colour coded with the component cables and and going into component in on the tv. The dvd is set to progressive scan as said to be in the user manual, but the tv's manual does not say much on it. There are different channels for the different inputs if that is any help.

thanks alot

Hi,

I have a Pioneer Plasma display, and had problems when connecting my DVD player via component.

Is there an option for "component in" on your screen (in the setup menu somewhere), as that was my problem.

if you were previously using scart out on the dvd player , most players will have to be changed when using component out

e.g. setting to RGB when using scart and change to progressive or Y/C for component output
you dont have to use progressive for component
does your lcd have progressive scan?

i don't know if it has progressive scan but it works ok when the dvd is set to y/c comp. the only problem is the two screens and the big band of colour down the middle.

Lots of Displays that are advertised as Progressive Scan compatible will only work with a Progressive 'NTSC' signal.

Inputting a Progressive 'PAL' signal will often result in a double image as the internal Processor in the Display is set to expect an Interlaced PAL signal.

Set your DVD Player to Output an Interlaced Component signal with your R2 discs and you should clear the double image.

You should be able to set the DVD player to Output a Progressive signal when viewing R1 discs.

Best regards

Joe

thanks alot everyone, much appreciated. I ended up using the y/c comp output from the dvd player, must have been the tv not being progressive capable.
Thanks again,
Scotty
