Sony KDFE50A12U - im just about to Buy

Hi all

im looking at buying one of these tv's any time now

ive read on here that a lot of people are saying the picture quality on these is better than some Plasma's and LCD's!???

ive been in currys today looking and i dont think it was better than any plasma's or lcd's - but its hard to tell cos every tv in currys is playing some sorta Currys promotional tape and the picture isnt very clear cos of that

is there anything else i could buy to improve picture quality from my Cable (telewest) box apart from the Obvious Expensive Scart Lead

whats the better connection for picture quality, an expensive scart lead or an expensive Componant Lead?


Also can someone clear up the "which stand" issue, i read on here that someone had asked ROBERT WHYTES which stand the Sony is coming with at the mo and they reckon its the New one, the SU-PG3, and not the old one thats pictured with the TV @ sony.co.uk - model no : SU-RM11M

sorry about all the questions! im just trying to get as much info as i can before i buy.

I phoned Robert Whyte this morning (29-12) and they stated that it IS the new stand and that they only had 1 left.

After I organised a van to pick it up, they said that the last was sold. I'm not 100% sure I was being told the truth and suspect this might be because

a) I was going to pick it up myself
b) I was not taking the interest free credit option

Please let me know if my suspicions are true!

I nearly bought from RW but cancelled when I found out the warranty was Return to Base. Asked for my delivery charge to be refunded, 4 weeks later called to find out why the refund hadn't been done to be told that it had been filed but not actioned. However the shop manageress said she would sort it out and was true to her word and the refund was actioned the sameday. I guess it depends on who you speak to as the customer service does tend to vary from one extreme to the other.
