Waking up my sub

I have my 3910/3805 combo connected to MS Genies, including a sub-woofer.

When playing DVDs the performance is fine (WOTW was pretty damned good the other day), but when listening to ordinary TV I frequently have to turn up the volume on the 3805 to an uncomfortably high level (-10db) before the sub will wake up (i.e. switch on, red LED goes to green and the bass is there). This is a little frustrating, particularly with music, which sounds somewhat weedy without the sub's contribution.

Is this an inherent problem with a lack of bass element in the source material, or have I got something wrong in my set up?

I have the cross-over set at 120Hz (which I think is the maximum with the 3805).

TIA

Tony B

It's more likely the Sub's AUTO ON input. It's a fairly common thing so I prefer to leave my subs on all the time. You can sometimes get around it by using a Y-Splitter into the sub if it has two inputs.

TV doesnt seem to generate much bass when you turn it into Pro-Logic surround.....not sure why, it just dilutes it.......i find the same, bass isnt all that unless i watch TV in stereo, soon as i do that its rumbletime...lol

not sure why.....
