FUNAI DVD Recorder/VCR Combi hack?

Just bought the above Model DRV-B2737 from Currys to replace ageing VCR & ageing DVD player. It seems fine & for the price £149 cant really complain. I would love to play some R1 DVDs on it though so anyone know of any hacks ( handset or otherwise) to make it Region free? I've checked the DVD Reviewer Forum Hacks but it's not listed.
Any help greatly appreciated.

i got one of these also, have had no luck finding the hack, tho 1 website i did go to claims it can send me the hack for $5, not sure wether to trust them but if I do I will post back my results here

Any news on this, guys? Seems a year has gone by with no answer to the hack. I have this model too, so would be interested in an answer!
