Help Wanted Humax 9200: timings of recordings

Have seen a few posts on this device, but to be honest some of them are rather too large to start searching through (300+ posts). Have seperated my queries into seperate posts to keep this simple.

Have bought one for my parents for Christmas (in their late 50s and early 60s). My Dad is pretty techie literate but my Mum is definitely NOT (the only time the old freebox got used was when my Dad turned it on).

Initial response has been very positive, especially from my Mum... "Its a lot easier than a video and no tapes to lose".

However after a few days there is a problem with ITV (not BBC so far) where by the unit either misses the beginning or end of a program set to record freom the Guide (highlight and click OK - my Mum loved this simplicity!).

Has anyone else experienced this? If so any suggestions?

I have Sky+ and you can just add minutes to start/end of all recordings - but can you do this with the Humax? My Dad says you can edit the timing of each individual recording but this isn't ideal.

For the moment I have suggested recording the next program when on ITV (they will never fill the 160gb) - will this work? Still not ideal.

Overall - they are impressed, but these quirks seem to make it not quite the freeview Sky+.

Any help appreciated.

You can only pad the recording out manually at the moment unfortunately. It's quite easy to do via the record menu then recording schedule. You highlight the recording you wish to edit and change the timimngs however you wish. If your recording a series that airs weekly (and daily) at the same scheduled time you can change the setting to record daily or weekly too. This allows you to pad all of the susequent recordings too.
Hopefully Humax will release in a future update the ability to pad program timimgs automatically if required.

When you manually pad the start of a program, it comes up with the previous program name. Is there anyway to avoid this or change this before recording?

Thanks

I have just sent an email to Humax asking about the possibility of some additional functionality to append 5mins to all recordings.... I got a reply within 30mins!!

Dear Customer

Thank you for your email; after adding a program to your RECORDING SCHEDULE via the GUIDE, please go into the RECORDING SCHEDULE and highlight the just entered program then press OK. This will open up an EDIT window which you can then use to add a few minutes to a reserved program. The software team are looking into a way to automatically make sure you get the whole programme with out the need to manual edit the start and ending time.

The MP3 feature was added on at the last minute and only 5gb was put on. However both of your suggestion were passed on to our software team and they will look into both of them .

So that's a) Very Good customer response, and b) looking good for future functionality :-)

It may be worthwhile others dropping an email to humax if they have any features that want to see in the future adding to their 9200T's :-) Email: uksupport@humax-digital.co.uk

cheers

I bought the Humax PVR for my parents this Christmas and they have noted the same problem. We'll also email Humax

Interesting. This prompts 2 questions:

How do I tell my parents to check their software version?

How do you update the software on the box?

Thanks

I am using the latest software 1.00.01. However I still have this problem.

Is there anyone also using this software who does not have this problem?
