just got this player today, now how do i burn divx to dvd so it can play ?

just burn the divx avi file as using nero or roxio as data. You can burn several files as long as you don't exceed the dvd size limit. I burn it on CD-RW and reuse it again and again.

Burn files on cd or dvd as an ISO, making sure it is ISO 9660 complient (standard)
