Seems that the Tom Tom One & Go have been very popular gifts this year so here's some free advice:
Before doing anything else, backup the SD card. There's nothing complicated involved, just make a copy of the entire contents of the card to a folder on your PC. If the card corrupts or breaks you just copy back to a new card.
Download the "safety" camera database from Pocket GPS (http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/) asap. This is a very useful free add-on but as Nick_UK has posted previously, this is to become chargeable in the New Year.
Don't leave the unit in the car. SatNav is now very high on the wish-list of a scumbag near you! Record the serial number & mark you postcode on the unit in case the worst happens.
Keep a good old fashioned map in the car - just in case. You will be amazed how quickly you come to rely on SatNav....

If the card corrupts or breaks you just copy back to a new card.If you copy the card in a card reader (as opposed to using the TomTom via the supplied USB cable and backup utility), make sure that you see ALL files by ticking "Show Hidden Files or Folders" (Tools > Folder Options > View).
Make a copy of the card BEFORE you make any changes for the Camera Database.

Thanks to the member who advised about the free camera POI download however the site says that to work with 300, 500 or 700 you have to change the name of the downloaded file and put it in a root directory.
I'm no techie, so this means nothing to me and of course we are talking about the tom tom one so what if anything needs changing and if so to what.
Can someone give advice in simple terms as to how I install the camera detection in plain English.
Thanks.

The simplest installation is by downloading the all in one file next to the "Donate" icon here (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php).

Just to say it again - BACKUP THE SD CARD FIRST.

Thanks Crocodile for your guidance, the links were of great assistance. I think that I was looking on the wrong Gps web page before. It's all installed now and was very easy to do. Now to put it to the test.
Thanks again, the clarity of your message makes you a credit to the forum.

......Don't leave the unit in the car. SatNav is now very high on the wish-list of a scumbag near you! Record the serial number & mark you postcode on the unit in case the worst happens......
Also make sure that you take the mount off the windscreen, remove the power adaptor, and wipe off the mark made by the suction cup. Since it only takes a few seconds to break a car window, the mere suspicion that a Sat Nav unit is in the car is often enough to get you a break-in.

Will any size SD card work in TT1 v2? My TT1 just arrived and following Crocodile's advice have done a backup. I also plugged the SD card into a card reader on my PC which kicked off the TT Home software. I checked properties and found it is a 256Mb card. 200Mb used. It has the safety camera data installed. It seems to have a FAT format.
What I had in mind, was as TT Home can make & restore backups, was to have a spare SD card, but out of interest will the TT1 accept a 512Mb card for instance?

Have you tried any of these in a TT1?
