Quick lap top /wireless keyboard question.

Hi,

Going to connect my lap top to my LCD TV via D-sub and got a wireless mouse already but then thought could I get a wireless keyboard too so I can let the machine sit under the TV when browsing etc and sit back rather hunch over the lap top.

I pressume its a USB infared connection type thing.

Would it work on a lap top? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Pete.

A wireless keyboard should work OK with a laptop.

There are loads of options. Most USB wireless keyboards use RF (not IR) - PC World are selling a Logitech keyboard/mouse set, that also includes a remote control, for £40.
You can also get IR keyboards that connect to the PS/2 ports. I bought a small IR keyboard a couple of years ago that had a trackball fitted on the righthand side.

Have a look at the Logitec DiNovo Notebook edition or the Ceratech Saturn keyboard/trackball.
Both of these have recievers that are small compact USB (key-like) dongles, rather than then large receivers on the end of a long cable that you tend to get with desktop wireless keyboards

RF or IR

Which has the best response time ? My experience of wireless keyboards started about 5 years ago with frustrating type-lag for letters to appear on the tv - kinda like using a remote application accross a congested WAN.

I have also used IR keyboards in Hotel rooms a few times and never been really impressed.

I've recently bought a LCD TV and want to connect an old PC to the TV for sitting on the sofa web access. So as I start researching wireless keyboards - I ask IR or RF ?

Ta - Alex
