Unhappy Sony NW-A1000 / 3000

Dont hold your breath regarding the launch of the new Sony Walkman in the USA.

This item was launched in the UK late last year and I purchased one for my son's Christmas present.

The Player is very nice looking and the music sounds really good.

The main drawback is the new Sony Connect Player software that is supplied with the Walkman. This has received lots of negative feed-back from users in the UK. The software is full of bugs and basically eats up all of the memory / resources on the user's PC.

Sony specify a minimum of 256mb of ram but recommends 512mb.

I have a Pentium 4, 3Ghz with 512mb of ram and the software still occasionally freezes my PC.

If you click on the following link you can read the type of issues we are having in the UK

I suspect that Sony will delay the launch in the USA until the software issue is resolved

Yea, I heard Sony is going to resolve all the issues with the connect player before they would do a lauch in the US. At least that's what they say in CES 06. Anyways, at least we know its coming to US someday, even though maybe by that time, the player is outdated.
